There is a whole etiquette around pouring Paint in and out tins. Yawn :)
- to keep rims clean pour from the same side. From the back leaving the important front labels info clean
- Wipe the excess off straight away
- Only pour into your Paint kettle what you need, especially at the end of your painting session ie aim to have as little as possible left in the kettle when you finish for the day
- have a separate slops bucket for any left over dregs, one for oíl one for wáter based, so you don't put used and contminated Paint back in your clean supply.
That takes US into #paint #recycling
- ideally find a use for the dregs after filtering out dust etc.
-to dispose of dregs you can empty out onto sheets of cardboard, leave to harden and put in the bin. This is recognised in most countries regs as the cleanest Paint disposal option.
- There are Paint hardening products to add to tins of half finished Paint never to be used again.
- better yet there are plenty of Paint recycle programas that can repurpose dregs and tins. The recycled wall paint products I have used in UK were pretty good.
Plastic or metal cans? Paiint trade told suppliers to not use plastic containers for Up to 5 litre pails because of issues with static build up. Lid and rim design for plastic tends to cause more issues than It solves. But when you think of the cost of Paint and the trouble It causes when lids come off, maybe it's better to err on the side of inconvence?
